Committee Backs Cutting Loitering at Fair Oaks

A Danville City Council committee is recommending the full council approve transferring some right-of-way near Fair Oaks.  Jaclin Vinson, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Danville, explains the request….

Vinson says it should help curb loitering and cut down on problems often caused by people from outside the area….

The full Danville City Council will consider the right-of-way transfer at its next meeting.  Members of the Public Works Committee voted 6-0 in favor of the transfer last night.

Also during their meeting, committee members approved an intergovernmental agreement to have city crews demolish six buildings at Fair Oaks.  Vinson talked last night about the timetable for that work…

The Housing Authority will pay the city up to $110-thousand dollars for handling the demolitions.
