Some second grade students from Edison Elementary School in Danville saw the completion of their class project Thursday. They got to plant the young plants they have been tending in their classroom at the Douglas Discovery Garden.
Ag Literacy Coordinator Susie Willard with the Vermilion County Farm Bureau has been working with the students from Edison and Liberty Schools in Danville. They planted seeds earlier in the year to be planted in raised beds at the Douglas Discovery Garden.
Vermilion County Master Gardeners were on hand Thursday to assist.

The Douglas Discovery Garden is located at the site where the former Douglas Grade School was demolished in 2006. The garden is near Douglas Park at the corner of Wayne and Florida Avenue.
The Douglas Discovery Garden was started in 2009 as a site where students and the public could learn about plants. It features prairie flowers and grasses, sustainable eco-gardening and some community gardens where local residents are encouraged to tend the plants and pick vegetables for their own use.
