Arrest Made In Danville Home Invasion

(DANVILLE, IL) — Danville police made an arrest Thursday of a 52 year old man accused of allegedly robbing an elderly resident earlier in the day. Marcus Edwards was taken into custody in the 1800 block of East Main Street after officers checking the area located Edwards bleeding with cuts and abrasions on his arms. Edwards was transported to the Danville Public Services Building, and after further investigation, Edwards was identified as the suspect involved in the home invasion. Edwards awaits his appearance in Vermilion County Court on charges of home invasion, aggravated battery to an elderly citizen and theft after Danville Police were called Thursday morning to the 200 block of Edwards Street in reference to a home invasion that had just occurred. Officers had spoken with the 96-year-old victim, who reported that a man had broken through the kitchen window of the residence and demanded money while threatening him with a baseball bat.
