Illinois Governor Criticizes Missouri Abortion Law During Bill Signing

(Chicago, IL)  —  Illinois has new laws protecting the reproductive rights of women and allowing for abortions after viability, which is when a fetus could survive outside of the womb.  In signing the bill Wednesday, Governor J.B. Pritzker criticized the new restrictions across the border in Missouri, saying abortion bans don’t stop the practice and only endanger women.  Missouri’s junior U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has introduced and co-sponsored federal legislation aimed at restricting abortions, and believes the U.S. Supreme Court could take up a challenge to Roe v. Wade in a few years.
