On Thursday, June 19, 2019 at approximately 3:50 a.m. on US 41 just north of Attica, IN a trooper was monitoring traffic flow when he stopped a car for a traffic violation and discovered alleged stolen articles from a residence and drugs in the car.
Trooper Kevin Jeffries was working in the area and stopped a silver 2007 Hyundai Tucson. After approaching the vehicle, he asked for the driver’s license and registration. The driver produced a valid license that identified him as Randell S. Shipp Jr, 47 of Indianapolis. After talking to the driver and observing what was going on inside the vehicle, Trooper Jeffries suspected criminal activity was present and requested assistance from Attica Police Department.
Officer Alden Hohenstein of the Attica Police Department and his K-9 partner, Niko arrived on scene. Officer Hohenstein walked Niko around the vehicle and the K-9 detected the presence of drugs. Trooper Jeffries had Shipp and his passengers, Alonzo Drake, 32, Ann Marie Kingery, 46 and Amber Nicole Watt, 30 all of Indianapolis exit the vehicle as the search was conducted on the Hyundai.
During the search, drugs were found inside the vehicle along with items inside the vehicle that appeared to possibly have been taken from a residence. Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy Brant Needler went to an address in Warren County after a local address was located in the vehicle. Deputy Needler found signs that the property had been burglarized. All four were taken into custody and lodged into the Warren County jail on charges of;

- Possession of Syringe, Level 6 Felony
- Possession of a Legend Drug, Level 6 Felony
- Residential Entry, Level 6 Felony
- Theft, A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana, B Misdemeanor
- Possession of Paraphernalia, C Misdemeanor.

Assisting at the scene was Sergeant Brad Mull of the Indiana State Police, Beedles Towing out of Attica, Attica Police Department, Fountain County Sheriff’s Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing.
