The sentencing hearing for a Danville man convicted in a double murder four years ago has been rescheduled for August. Thirty-year-old Glenn Torres had originally been scheduled to be sentenced in May, but the hearing was postponed after the defendant claimed he had received ineffective legal counsel.
The hearing was rescheduled for today (Monday, July 1st) but Judge Nancy Fahey postponed it again to give a court-appointed attorney time to look into Torres complaint. Torres (shown here) has also filed a motion seeking a new trial. He had been convicted earlier in the August 2015 shooting deaths of 28-year-old Zarra Strickland and 29-year-old Theodore Hill. Their bodies were found dumped in the yard of a vacant home west of Danville.
Two local attorneys had represented Torres during his trial. A team of Special Prosecutors from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.
