A Danville man who was convicted in two separate incidents involving fleeing or attempting to elude police has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Circuit Judge Nancy Fahey sentenced Thomas Kindred.
On May 1st a Vermilion County jury found Kindred guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and two counts of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police – and driving while his license was revoked.
On August 21st of last year Danville Police say Kindred led them on a high speed chase across the city. Kindred fled on foot after his vehicle was forced to stop, but he was quickly detained. Police found a loaded .357 revolver under the driver’s seat.
During his trial Kindred testified that he was under duress. He claimed a passenger, Jermario Web, who is now deceased, pointed a revolver at him. But police say Kindred’s testimony was inconsistent with video evidence from the dashboard of the Danville Police squad car involved in the pursuit.
