The person who will become the new Principal of Danville High School is expected to be introduced during Wednesday evening’s school board meeting (on July 10, 2019). Dr. Elizabeth Yacobi, District 118 Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, is looking forward to the announcement…
Norton left the DHS Principal’s job on July 1st to become Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning for Urbana’s Public Schools. Norton had been the Danville High Principal since 2015.
Dr. Yacobi noted that since the new principal will be appointed on July 10th it is absolutely ‘’a very safe assumption’’ that the person selected will hit the ground running.
A search committee was appointed earlier to try to find a replacement for Norton at Danville High. Those on the search committee include representatives from the Danville Education Association, Administration, DHS staff, a community member and a DHS parent.
Dr. Yacobi said there were still multiple contenders for the position today (Monday) but the committee was expected to recommend its choice for DHS Principal to Superintendent Alicia Geddis on Tuesday. She will review it and forward a recommendation to the school board to consider Wednesday night.
