Vermillion County Indiana Sheriff’s Police have released the names of those involved in a serious chain-reaction crash along Interstate 74 on Saturday (July 27, 2019). They say a semi driven by 53-year-old Daniel Alvarez of Peoria failed to slow down when traffic had slowed or stopped ahead of him and his truck collided with several vehicles.

Eighteen-year-old Kaleb Acuna of State Line, Indiana was driving a car that was hit. He and a juvenile passenger in Acuna’s vehicle were taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana with life threatening injuries.
A pick-up driven by 44-year-old Jeremy Ramage of Union, Kentucky, an SUV operated by Patricia Campbell, 60, of Indianapolis…and a semi driven by 59-year-old Kathy McCarthy of Edgewater, Florida were also hit by Alvarez semi.
Campbell was also transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana with life threatening injuries.
Indiana State Police were called to the scene to reconstruct the accident. It remains under investigation.
The crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. Saturday and resulted with traffic being diverted around the area for twelve hours.
