A crash involving two vehicles in Vermilion County Tuesday has claimed a life. Illinois State Police say the 19-year-old female who was driving a car was pronounced dead on the scene early Tuesday afternoon at Poland Road and Stateline Road.
The 20-year-old male driver of the other vehicle involved and a passenger in that unit are both from Covington, Indiana. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Names of those involved were not immediately released. The Vermilion County Coroner was withholding the name of the young woman who was killed until family members were notified.
According to preliminary information, troopers say the vehicle being driven by the woman who died failed to yield at the T intersection shortly before 12:30 p.m. Her unit was attempting to turn north onto Stateline Road when it was struck on the driver’s side by the other vehicle.
