Vermilion County Board members have approved an agreement allowing the Vermilion County Animal Shelter on Catlin-Tilton Road to be annexed into Tilton. The annexation is part of an agreement made earlier in which the Village accepted ownership of a sewer plant facility which served the animal shelter, the previously county-owned nursing home and some Danville School District 118 property in that area.
Also during their meeting tonight (Tuesday) county board members renewed guidelines for solar energy systems. The plan had been on public display for two months.
The County Board also approved resolutions regarding the salary for the Vermilion County State’s Attorney and Public Defender. The salary for the State’s Attorney is set by state statute, and the Public Defender must make at least 90-percent of what the State’s Attorney receives in order for the county to qualify for reimbursement monies from the State of Illinois for those positions.
The State’s Attorney’s salary was changed – effective July 1st – to $173,744 to allow for a cost-of-living increase of $3,573. The Public Defender’s salary – in order to be at least 90-percent of the State’s Attorney’s salary – was raised to $156,370, also effective July 1st.
