The deadline for developers to submit their plans for a Danville casino is a week away, on Wednesday, August 21st. And the President of Danville Area Community College, Dr. Stephen Nacco, says the college is gearing up to help train workers who will be needed for the casino….
{‘’One of the things Danville needs to do is be prepared to support it. And to support it means having a community college that is at the ready to do whatever the casino owners need in terms of the training,’’ said Dr. Nacco. ‘’Just like we do under Stephanie Yates Corporate Training for all of the manufacturing businesses – here again – it’s to be ready. What customized training do you need?’’}
And Dr. Nacco says he imagines the casino will need trained workers in a number of areas, such as maintenance people to work on the casino’s machines….
{‘’They’ll need security for the casino – people who have certification to be able to work casino security. There could be…card-dealer training that they will want on site, or any machine operation training,’’ said Nacco. ‘’And even beyond that – culinary. So DACC is now in the process of ramping up its culinary hospitality, restaurant management – so that they’re full-bodied degrees, transferable so that people could be managers and work in any of the restaurants or the casino that are coming,’’ added the Danville Area Community College President.}
President Nacco talked about the role the college will play in helping the casino on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program Wednesday (August 14, 2019). You can hear the entire program by going to Vermilion County First on Demand on the homepage of VermilionCountyFirst.com.
