There are now three proposals to be considered for Danville’s casino. Mayor Rickey Williams, Junior says a third developer made Wednesday’s (August 21, 2019) deadline by submitting its proposal to the city.
The City of Danville is now facing an October 28th deadline to choose one of the developer’s proposals and submit it to the state. Danville was one of the city’s that was included in gaming expansion legislation that was approved earlier by the Illinois General Assembly.
A local steering committee has selected a site south of Interstate 74 at Lynch Road as its preferred site. But one of the developers said earlier that his plans call for placing it in the downtown area near the David S. Palmer Arena.
It will be up to the Danville City Council to make the final decision on where the casino will be located. It is expected to be ready to begin operations in 2021.
