Plans for the proposed Danville casino are continuing to advance. This week the steering committee named earlier for the project has been privately reviewing proposals from three developers who want to be selected for the casino. And next week the Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission will hear from representatives from Vermilion Development.
Vermilion Development, which has offices in Danville and Chicago, is overseeing the casino development plans here. During the September 5th meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission Vermilion Development is expected to make a presentation to the Commission regarding the Planned Unit Development Process for the casino. It is only a presentation and the commission will not be taking any action on the casino at that meeting.
Also during the meeting members of the Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a request from Danville School District 118. The school district wants to rezone some land located at 444 North Jackson Street so it can extend the parking lot of the district’s administration building.
The meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. on September 5th at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street.
