A proposal headed to the Danville City Council for consideration involves plans to install nearly $325-thousand dollars in equipment to improve police communications. The equipment would be installed at 12 sites out in Vermilion County and 5 sites inside Danville.
The system is designed to improve police communications for all village police departments, along with Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police and Danville Police. The proposal was approved by the Danville City Council’s Public Service’s Committee last night (Tuesday) and sent to the full council for consideration.
A total of $157-thousand dollars for the upgrade would come from 2016 bond money. Nearly $138-thousand dollars would come from 9-1-1 renovation money, and another $30-thousand dollars would involve capital improvement funds.
