The Vermilion County Handicapped Association is wrapping up raffle sales this week for a 2019 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. Steve Paxton, a member of the Association, says proceeds from the ticket sales fund the building of ramps at homes of people who need them.
Paxton says handicapped people who need a ramp pay nothing for them. And the work to build them is all done by volunteers. And Paxton notes that while they currently have more than a dozen people who volunteer to build them they would like to see more young people involved. He notes ‘’it’s gratifying just to get the folks out of their houses.’’
There are 1600 tickets being sold for $25 apiece for a chance to win the motorcycle. Tickets are available at Julee’s Shooting Star in Westville, The Little Nugget, and Starcrest Cleaners in Danville. The winner of the Harley will be drawn during a party which the Vermilion County Handicapped Association is holding on Saturday, September 7th, at The Little Nugget.
