Grant Helps Launch Rantoul Mentors Program

A state grant acquired with assistance from State Representative Mike Marron is going to help Rantoul City Schools implement a parent mentors program.

‘’DREAAM House is excited to partner with Rantoul City Schools on a new grant to empower and equip Parent Mentors to work in schools,’’ said Rantoul Superintendent Michelle Ramage. ‘’This was made possible through the assistance of Representative Mike Marron and making connections with the Parent Mentor Program coordinator in Chicago,’’ added Ramage.

DREAAM House stands for Driven to Reach Excellence and Academic Achievement for Males.

Each school will have a team of Parent Mentors that are each volunteering in a specific, designated classroom, attending regular workshops and training, and finding ways to demonstrate their leadership outside the classroom.  Parent Mentors are not placed in their own child’s classroom.
