Danville Police are continuing their investigation into an armed robbery and a business burglary which were reported early Wednesday.
The break-in occurred at Café 13 which is located in the unit block of North Vermilion Street in downtown Danville. Police were notified shortly before 6:00 a.m. Wednesday that the front door of the business had been damaged and a cash register was damaged. An employee said the register was empty at the time of the burglary.
Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any suspects.
Danville Police received a report around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday that a man in the area of the 400 block of East Main Street had suffered a head injury. Police spoke with a 51-year-old Champaign man who said he had been robbed at gunpoint in the area of North Gilbert and Ann Streets. The victim said he was robbed of his wallet and struck in the back of the head by one of two suspects involved in the robbery.
The victim suffered a small laceration to the back of his head.
The suspects were both described as being black males around 20 years old. They were last seen running westbound from the area.
