Illinois State Police say a 52-year-old Ridge Farm man suffered critical injuries in a crash involving his motorcycle and a car Saturday night (September 21, 2019). Troopers say their preliminary investigation found the man was driving his cycle at a high rate of speed along Illinois route one near Clingan Lane, south of Westville, when he attempted to pass a car.
State Police say the cycle hit the car’s bumper, causing the cycle to crash and eject the driver who suffered life-threatening injuries. The names of the drivers involved have not been released. Troopers say the car involved was being driven by a 45-year-old Danville woman. She had no apparent injuries.
The crash occurred at 9:00 p.m. Saturday as both units were traveling southbound on Illinois route one. State Police have charged the driver of the cycle with driving under the influence of alcohol, following too closely, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a vehicle without insurance. Troopers remind the public that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
