The company selected to bring a casino to Danville says it’s going to be a destination resort with a ‘’Wow!’’ factor. Scott Sypolt, leader of the group Haven Gaming, says people will say ‘wow!’ when they see it while traveling along Interstate 74 at Lynch Road. And Sypolt adds Danville is the perfect location for the casino….
Sypolt and two partners formed Haven Gaming. Together they have over 100 years of gaming experience. The City Council approved the agreement unanimously to accept the casino operating partner.
Sypolt notes they will be building more than just a casino….
[Note: You can click on the photo to enlarge it.] The Danville City Council unanimously approved a resolution to accept Haven Gaming as its casino operating partner. The next step is a vote expected Thursday when the Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission considers a request for a Planned Unit Development designation for the casino resort.
The three partners of Haven Gaming talked with VermilionCountyFirst.com about their plans prior to the city council meeting with the agreement this story would be embargoed until their presentation to the council.
It is expected that first phase construction will likely not be completed until early 2022. The rest of the casino and resort will be built in stages. And by the time it is fully operational in the summer of 2023 Bill Bembenek, one of the partners, says the resort will likely employ around 1,000 people. He says the market will dictate the size of the hotel that is coming with it…but it is expected to have around 150 rooms.
The three partners say they want input from the community – including what to name it. And Bembenek says he expects other hotels in the area will benefit because he expects when word gets out about the parks, National Scenic River, and other attractions in our area the casino resort will attract people from not only Illinois and Indiana – but across the country.
