Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has identified the victim of a Saturday night (October 5, 2019) shooting in Urbana as a Danville man. Twenty-one year old Tramale Hooser was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Police are calling the death a murder.
Urbana Police were dispatched to the Colorado Ridge apartment complex in the 700 block of East Colorado shortly before 7:30 p.m. In a release to VermilionCountyFirst.com News police said they located the victim sitting in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Hooser was transported to Carle Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim showed up at Carle suffering from what was described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Urbana Police say their initial investigation determined that both victims were sitting in the same car at the time of the shootings.
Urbana Police are being assisted in their investigation by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office and an Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.

Champaign Police are also investigating a double shooting which occurred Saturday night (October 5, 2019). Officers were called to the parking lot of a private business in the 1900 block of West Bradley Avenue for a report of a shooting around 11:45 p.m. Officers found a 25-year-old man had been shot but his wounds were not life-threatening. After police took the man to the hospital a second man showed up there seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. The second victim is a 32-year-old male.
Champaign Police say their preliminary investigation determined the incident began as a physical altercation and culminated with both men being shot. There is no information available on a suspect. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for these crimes.
