Danville City Council members are going to be holding a public hearing during Tuesday evening’s regular session for certification of the casino development and applicant. Council members are also expected to approve amending the city’s zoning ordinance and map to add the Planned Unit Development for Danville Casino Acquisition LLC.
Haven Gaming – formerly known as Ciela Gaming LLC of Nevada – announced its plans for the $230-million-dollar Danville Casino Resort earlier this month. The Planned Unit Development to be acted on by the City Council on Tuesday would allow it to be constructed south of the Interstate 74 – Lynch Road interchange along Southgate Drive.
Construction would come in stages if the Illinois Gaming Board approves the license being requested for the casino and resort.
The preliminary plans call for phase one to include a 53,500 square foot casino gaming floor that will form the core of the permanent casino and resort. Phase one will also include a 200 seat buffet and trendy Chicago style deli. Later additions are expected to include a 650 seat multi-purpose banquet event center….a 2,500 seat theatre designed for music concerts and other entertainment….and a 300 key hotel and convention center. Haven Gaming believes the proposed event center will allow for attracting guests from a 90 mile radius – making the casino resort and event center a destination point in Danville.
Tuesday’s (October 15, 2019) meeting of the Danville City Council begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building. It is located at 17 West Main Street (caddy-corner from the David S. Palmer Arena.)
