Danville Police say they have a suspect in custody in a homicide that occurred last weekend (on November 10, 2019). Police say 18-year-old Lamont D. Davis of Danville is being held on 1st-degree murder, armed robbery and home invasion charges in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Justin Daubaris.
Police say Davis was taken into custody shortly after noon Wednesday (November 13, 2019) in an unrelated incident on charges of home invasion and criminal trespass to land. A follow-up investigation led to the filing of murder and other charges in the Daubaris death.
Davis was arraigned in Vermilion County Circuit Court this afternoon (November 15, 2019) on the new charges of 1st degree murder, armed robbery and home invasion in the Daubaris case. Davis remains confined at the Public Safety Building in Danville after his bond was set at $5-million dollars. Although Davis has been arrested in the case all criminal defendants are presumed to be innocent unless they are convicted in court.
Another 23-year-old Danville man was also shot at the residence in the home in the 900 block of Hazel Street last Sunday, but survived.
Danville Police investigators are still attempting to determine the identity of others involved in the shootings at the Hazel Street residence. Anyone who has information that might help in the investigation is asked to give them a call at (217) 431-2250. Or you can call Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
