Hoopeston Man Held for Battery of Unborn Child

A 22-year-old Hoopeston man is in custody facing preliminary charges which include battery of an unborn child.  Hoopeston Police say the man was taken into custody Wednesday after a 73-year-old woman reported that her granddaughter – a pregnant minor – had been battered.

Hoopeston Police have also charged the man with aggravated battery, domestic battery and criminal trespassing.  His name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges by the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
