A single-vehicle rollover crash last night (January 8, 2020) along Interstate 74 in Champaign County has claimed two lives. A male occupant was ejected from the vehicle near mile post 183 in the Champaign-Urbana area and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup. He says a second occupant of the vehicle died later at Carle Foundation Hospital from injuries received in the crash.
Two other male occupants were also transported to Carle Hospital for treatment. No names have been released. Coroner Northrup says the names of the two who died are being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family members.
The crash occurred shortly after 8:30 last night (January 8, 2020) along the westbound lanes of Interstate 74. It remains under investigation by Illinois State Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
