A man who Danville Police say burglarized a residence last June and threatened a 96 year old man with a baseball bat, is headed to prison. Marcus Edwards was sentenced Monday to 17 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to Residential Burglary.
Edwards was sentenced under the extended term provisions of the law because of his past criminal history.
Police say that when Edwards broke into the apartment of the elderly victim the defendant cut both of his arms and left a trail of blood as he fled. Police followed the trail to the home where Edwards was hiding.
Edwards must serve two years of mandatory supervised release when he is released from prison. He had also been facing several other charges, including home invasion and armed robbery.
