Several area officials were on hand Wednesday morning to dedicate Danville District 118’s newest facility, the Dr. David L. Fields Administrative Services Center in honor of Dr. David L. Fields.
Dr. Fields retired in 2000 after a 40-year career in Danville schools, first as a high school teacher and later principal, then spending the final 10 years as superintendent. He says the honor means a lot to him.
Former Danville alderman Lloyd Randle led the effort to name the building after Dr. Fields. He said Dr. Fields understands preparation through education.
A lifelong Danville resident and 1953 Danville High School graduate, Dr. Fields credits education to his success and says it is something his family has always valued.
The Dr. David L. Fields Administrative Services Center is located at the corner of Jackson and Williams streets in Danville. The Danville school board will hold its first meeting there Wednesday night.
