A meeting room at the Danville Public Library was packed with homeless and home insecure persons Friday (January 24, 2020) looking for help from local resources. And representatives from over a dozen agencies were there to lend a hand providing valuable information.
Reno Torres, Library Assistant in the Adult Outreach Service Area, says there is a big demand for help…
{‘’A lot of people, a lot of homeless participants right now,’’ said Torres who helped organize the event. ‘’It’s just a matter of connecting the homeless in a roof here in the library – in one roof – giving them information, resources, so it can help them. Information is the key to this event,’’ he added.}
This was the fourth year that Project Uplift got agencies and the homeless together to share information. Jessica Augustson, Community Engagement Librarian, says the event also gives the agencies a chance to discuss the services they are offering.
