The unemployment rate decreased year-over-year in all 14 metropolitan areas in Illinois, including Danville. Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the largest growth was in Champaign-Urbana, where 3,800 jobs were added compared with one year ago. The non-seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Illinois was 3.5 percent last month.
In Danville, unemployment stands at 5.3 percent compared with 6.7 percent one year ago. The financial services sector saw job gains, while education and health services and leisure and hospitality all saw job losses.
