If you receive a parking ticket in downtown Danville in the future, you could be paying more.
The city’s public works committee last night discussed a proposed ordinance change that would update parking fines, something that had not been enforced for several years but restarted recently after business complaints.
Initial fines would be $10, increasing to $25 if not paid in 72 hours and $35 if the fine is paid after 10 days.
Another enforcement area is the municipal building parking lot. Parking spaces there would be limited to city employees and visitors conducting business there.
Public Works Director Carl Carpenter said parking is being enforced from a city employee along with an auxiliary worker.
