A committee looking for improve Danville’s appearance will be focusing on vacant buildings and what can be done about them this week. The Danville Housing Committee is a newly-formed nine-member group consisting of citizens, landlords, some city council members, and two non-voting members.
Committee chairwoman Sharon Pickering says the effort will focus on more than just rental property. But she says the committee was formed because of the need to do something about rental property. ‘’We know there are some code violations where they are not being followed-up on,’’ said Pickering during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News. She says Wednesday’s meeting will focus on the section of City Codes dealing with vacant buildings.
The meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in a lower level Community Room at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building. It is located at 17 West Main Street in Danville.
