The Kenneth D. Bailey Academy in Danville is honoring Veterans by placing the names of two more Veterans on its ‘Wall of Honor’. Those being honored in a special ceremony on May 10th at the Academy are Dr. Thomas Halloran and John Sant.
Sant was a B-17 pilot during World War II, assigned to the 15th Air Corp of the U.S. Army in Italy. He flew 32 missions and was shot down twice. When he was shot down over Czechoslovakia Sant was captured by the Nazis and spent ten months in Stalag Luft I in Germany.
Sant would later become General Manager of the Berkeley-Davis Plant in Danville. He has also been active in numerous community organizations – including serving as Piankeshaw Council President for the Boy Scouts and President of the CRIS Board.
Dr. Halloran began his medical career in the Navy in 1974. He earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander and served on the island of Guam as well as in Washington state where he was promoted to the rank of Commander.
Dr. Halloran is associated with multiple hospitals in the area. He also has a model — ‘’your community is what you make of it.’’ Dr. Halloran recognized the need for a soccer complex and his vision became the Danville Area Soccer Complex.
