The Provena United Samaritans Medical Center has reopened the RegionalCancerCenter following a $1 million dollar renovation.Patients and visitors will see a new central reception area, new private bays for treatment and physician consultation, three private dressing rooms, two new conference areas and a face-lift of the exterior of the building.The renovation was completed with a large number of private donations from community members.
Northeast Elementary school in Danville has spent a lot of time in the spotlight after receiving a gold medal from the Alliance For A Healthier Generation. Inrecent weeks teachers, students and staff have been featured on CBS News, Yahoo.com, CNN and the Illinois Radio Network just to name a few.
And a salute goes out to Dr. David Dillman of Dillman Eye Care on the 30th anniversary of his practice in Danville.In that time he has developed a worldwide reputation as an eye surgeon having trained hundreds of doctors in procedures here and abroad.

The Dunham Sporting Goods store is now open in the Village Mall. Dunham Sports has added 30 employees with expected annual sales of over $4.5 million.Dunham now occupies the space of the former Hobby Lobby location
The VA Illiana Health Care System has dedicated their first two Green Homes.The Freedom and Liberty House now sit on the site of the former VA golf course.Construction costs were estimated at $4 million dollars for these two homes which are the first of their kind in the country. They will now house 10 residents in the new 7500 square foot facilities.
FourVermilionCounty residents were named to the Forty Under 40 list of those who made significant contributions to their communities by Central Illinois Business Magazine.They include; Alicia Pettigrew from Vermilion Advantage, Amy Hoose of Trillium Staffing, Matt Payne from Bunge and Rachel Dietkus-Miller of the VA.

The United Way Campaign has been underway now for a month and the results are coming in at a steady pace. Over 125 community volunteers have been making presentations to industrial, business, education, service clubs and individuals throughout the Danville Area.
The New Hoopeston McDonald's will be opening soon at the corner of Illinois Routes 1 and 9. The first of it's kind building in Illinois will replace the current store which opened 35-years ago.
Alan Puzey of Fairmont was honored recently by the University of Illinois Alumni Association with the Spirit Award.Given in appreciation for his work in support of the University and Agriculture, Puzey received recognition on the field at Memorial Stadium during the Northwestern game.
And finally congratulations to the Catlin Grade School Baseball team for winning the IESA Class 1A state baseball tournament. The Warriors defeated Springfield 9 to 8 in the Championship Game.

Sales of new cars and trucks have risen in Vermilion County this year by over 35% according the Illinois Secretary of State's office. 675 units had been sold compared to 494 in the same period last year…In the most recent survey of large employers by the Vermilion Advantage, 97% reported steady or rapid growth in the second quarter. The optimist outlook extends into the fourth quarter where 85% of large employers expect that trend to continue…

...and Provena's Regional Cancer Center began a renovation project at their Logan Avenue facility. The project will see a new central reception area, private patient bays, and new dressing rooms. The $1 million project was largely funded with private donations, including a lead gift from the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation.
