March Forth Moments

 
There are good economic news stories in Vermilion County, and when they happen, they're called March Forth Moments.  It could be new jobs coming to the area, a new buiness or an expansion, or even someone receiving an award or other recognition.  They are all March Forth Moments.


National Recognition is the theme of this March Forth Moment

David W. Harby, Vice President of the Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees has been honored as the top Community College Trustee in nine states by the Association of Community College Trustees. Harby won the 2012 Central Regional Trustee Leadership Award in recognition of exemplary service by a currently-serving community college board member. The regional award is one of five to be given in front of a national audience during an awards luncheon at the ACCT Community College Leadership Conference in Boston in October. A national award winner will be chosen from among the five regional winners at that time.


Fiberteq, LLC of Danville, IL is proud to announce that Mr. Brian Williams has been notified that he is one of the recipients of 2012 Safety and Health Achievement Award presented by the Voluntary Protection Program Participants Association.
In the history of the VPPPA Safety and Health Achievement Award only 51 persons have earned this award.  Williams is one of only three hourly employees from across the United States who will be presented the award in 2012.

One Day Forklift Operator Safety Course


Danville Area Community College's Customized Corporate Education Division is now offering a one day forklift operator course on May 9th, August 18th and November 18th, 2013. This 4 hour class provides training to keep your employees and workplace in compliance with OSHA's forklift safety standard. All classes will meet from 8am to 12pm on the DACC campus in the technology center, room 134. Cost for the class is $125 and must be paid 2 weeks prior to class. VA Focus Groups


The VA Illiana Health Care System will be conducting focus groups for the Veterans who receive care in Danville, IL to tell the VA how they're doing in providing care and services. Focus groups will take place Wednesday May 22nd and Thursday May 23rd at various times throughout the day. All You Can Eat Made from Scratch Noodles with chicken or Beef. Dinner includes mashed potatoes, vegetables, desserts and coffee. Serving begins at 11am and runs until 5:30pm. Community Blood Drive at St James


St James United Methodist Church will sponsor a blood drive with Community Blood Services of Illinois on Tuesday May 28th from 3pm to 7pm. The drive will be at 504 North Vermilion Street in Danville.

Saint James United Methodist Church is having a Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 3-7 pm at the church, 504 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61832. For information, call the church at 217-442-1504. Walk-ins are welcome.  Seventeen is the minimum blood donor age in Illinois or age 16 with a signed parent’s permission slip (available at the church).  Be sure to eat a hearty meal before you come and bring a photo ID or your Blood Donor’s card. Diamond Brothers Insurance will sponsor a blood drive with Community Blood Services of Illinois on Wednesday May 29th from 10am to 5pm. The Bloodmobile will be at 120 North Vermilion in Danville.

Whitestar Home Health Agency is requesting donated items to take to Oklahoma to help with this tragedy that has affected so many lives. They are accepting clothes, non-perishables & hygiene products. 49th Annual Turtle Reunion Races


Knights of Columbus present the 49th annual Turtle Reunion Races on Saturday June 1st, 2013 from 12pm to 8pm at 310 Bryant Avenue in Danville, IL. There will be turtle races, food, and beverages, a 50/50 drawing, and fun for all. All proceeds will be donated to help those children with developmental disabilities. 49th Annual Turtle Races
