State Representative Chad Hays has been named a “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to help small businesses throughout Illinois thrive and create jobs. Representative Hays (R-Catlin) is being honored for his perfect voting record in support of Illinois’ small businesses.
“Most all elected officials like to talk about how important small business owners are to the state’s economic recovery, but only some of them actually take the tough votes to help Illinois’ job creators,” said Kim Clarke Maisch, NFIB/Illinois State Director. “We bestow our highest honor, the “Guardian of Small Business,” to those legislators who score 80 percent or better on our voting record. The list of Guardians are those who are truly working to help create an economy that allows small business owners to be successful and grow.
Rep. Hays received a perfect 100% positive voting record on NFIB- supported bills to create jobs during the 2011-2012 legislative year. His pro-small business voting record can be viewed at www.nfib.com/IL.
The NFIB is comprised of more than eleven-thousand business members in Illinois who count on lawmakers, the Governor, and other elected officials to foster a competitive business environment through limited government, fewer regulations, and market-driven public policies.
“Small businesses provide most of the jobs here in East Central Illinois and across the state. Helping them grow and thrive here is crucial to revitalizing our communities. We must implement policies that help us bring good jobs and consumer dollars back across the border from neighboring states,” Rep. Hays said. “I look forward to continuing to work with the NFIB to make sure Illinois is jobs-friendly.”
