Restoration Project to Help Area Homeless Veterans
A unique new effort is getting underway to help homeless Veterans in East Central Illinois and West Central Indiana. It is a project that will involve the restoration of a 1954 Chevrolet pick-up truck.
The restoration project was the idea of Gary Knight, President of Carmack Car Capitol, who wanted to do more to raise awareness of homeless Veterans and help raise money for local organizations that support them.
‘’There are so many facets to be considered in this kind of a project – engine, body work, interior, and paint design,’’ says Knight. ‘’But we are confident that the talents and generosity of our community will out shine themselves again,’’ he adds.
The 1954 Chevy 3100 truck was donated by the Tee Pak Credit Union. The restored vehicle will be given away at the Midwest Veterans Association Thunder Ride in August of 2014. All proceeds will benefit the Midwest Veterans Association that benefits the Homeless Veterans Fund of East Central Illinois and West Central Indiana.
