Suspect Arrested in a Fatal Danville Shooting

Danville Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man earlier this year.  Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason says 30-year-old Robert L. Butler was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.  ‘’A warrant issued for three counts of first-degree murder was obtained by police and Mr. Butler was taken into custody without incident,’’ according to Thomason.
Butler is being held without bond in connection with the April 13th shooting death of Jamal Sampson of Danville.  Sampson died from a single gunshot wound after he was found lying on the ground outside a residence in the 1500 block of East Fairchild Street.
‘’There was some kind of gathering at the home and people were beginning to leave when a single gunshot was heard outside,’’ says Thomason.
