Video Gaming Back on City Council Agenda

Video Gaming Back on City Council Agenda

Danville City Council members meet Tuesday evening and are expected to concur in some key appointments by Mayor Rickey Williams Jr.  The Mayor wants to remove the word ‘Acting’ and appoint Christopher Yates as Chief of Police.  Yates has been serving as Acting Chief of Police and earlier had also served as Acting Public Safety Director over both the Police and Fire Departments.

City Council members are also expected to concur in the appointment of Sam Cole as Danville’s new City Engineer.  Cole had earlier worked for the City of Danville City Engineers office.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting Danville City Council members are expected to act on a request to spend $274-thousand dollars for the purchase of a new automated refuse truck.

And the issue of video gaming is back on the agenda.  The City Council is expected to vote on an amendment to the liquor codes.  It says that for any liquor license issued after Tuesday that allows for video gaming on the premises, the revenue generated from video gaming shall not exceed 49-percent of the license holder’s total gross yearly revenue.
