A number of special activities will be taking place this week at the Danville Public Library. Here is a schedule of their activities which are all open to the general public:
June 17 – 24: Vermilion County Conservation Literacy Program 2019 Naturalist Exhibit. Look at “touch and feel” items used by naturalists in the wild! Located in front of the Children’s Room.
June 17: The Wonder Garden Club teaches children about plants and how to care for them in our outside Wonder Garden. This program begins at 9:30 am in the downstairs meeting room then moves outside to the garden. Ages 5-11 (under 8 must be accompanied by a caregiver).
June 18: Wee Wigglers story times contain songs, stories, and serious silliness for the youngest book-lovers. Offered on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room, for children from birth up to 24 months, with a caregiver.
June 18: Kids’ Snack Club combines themed stories and snacks to educate children. Children will read a story about fishing and enjoy a carrot and goldfish cracker snack. Kids’ Snack Club meets at 3:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room, for children, ages 5-18; children under 8 with a caregiver.
June 19: Preschool Pals Playgroup meets at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room. For children, ages 2-6 years, and their caregivers.
June 19: Meeting of the Teen Minds allows teens to discuss topics of interest to them. The program will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Makerspace. For teens, ages 12-18 years.
June 20: A Tween 3D Printer Class will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Makerspace. Registration is required; the class is limited to five participants. For tweens, ages 8 to 11.
June 20: Tween Gaming is a chance for children, ages 8-11, to game together in the Children’s Program Room from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
June 21: Adults, 60 and older, are invited to Coffee Time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with snacks, games, and good conversation. This program is held on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the first floor meeting room.
June 21: Civil War historian and author Bob O’Connor will discuss his new book, Dennis Hart Mahan: Military Tactics Instructor at West Point, at 3:00 p.m. in the first floor meeting room. O’Connor will be available to sell and sign copies of his books after the program.
June 22: Enjoy family-friendly activities, vendors and live entertainment at the Farmers Market on the library lawn from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
